About the project

 

 

This project aims at contributing to bring in the era of hybrid electric two-wheelers. The need for the cause was obvious around me as an Indian. Arguably, the most preferred personal transport means in a mass populated country like India are two-wheelers. The two-wheeler industry although developing in good shape, sooner or later has to look for fuel alternatives. The growing fuel prices and environmental impact from increased traffic of two-wheelers signals at the need for a better solution. Since alternative solutions including hydrogen and mass scale implementation of other alternative fuels like CNG for small vehicles like two-wheelers pose many challenges, thoughts of exploring some other feasible solution came off. Like in the four wheelers industry when the hybrid powertrain technology is showing much promise, especially in Europe and US, the thought was to develop a unique and cost effective hybrid powertrain at a reasonable cost for the Indian population on a type of vehicle that has good market in India - two-wheelers.

 

The project was first conceptualized in December 2013. Followed by more and more pondering and exploration of the possibilities the concept grew into a real working prototype within six months. A lot of challenges came along the way to implementation. Once the aim was set I had decided that I'll never give up whatever the situation may be. At some point the work was going like a tumultuous affair, but still I kept determined and focused to achieve that one wonderful dream of making the concept come alive. Though, many hurdles were there, passing each of them made me more and more hopeful and confident. On the day I test drove the vehicle the feeling I had was simply fascinating. I believe that my project inspires many in India and abroad and let them contribute to this wonderful technology in coming years.
